Accessing the Buffer Zone
Crossing from the North:
Residents: Have ID or Passport ready. You will be checked.
Visitors: Enter with the same passport used to enter Cyprus.
If you entered with a Turkish ID: visit immigration (weekdays) to transfer entry record to passport (takes ~10 mins).
Keep residence permit with you (digital or printed).

You may be checked please keep ID or Passport with you.
Third-country nationals with unsettled status or asylum seekers are usually not allowed entry. They are likely to be turned away. However our team will be present and coordinating with authorities to assist where possible.

About United by Pride
In 2022, something happened on this island that had never happened before.
Two marches, one from the north and one from the south, converging at the UN buffer zone of Ledra Palace in Nicosia. An intercommunal Pride. A political act.
Every year since, the community has shown up. Artists have given their time and craft in solidarity. Volunteers have returned year after year. What began as an idea has become something that belongs to everyone who has ever marched, performed, volunteered, or simply stood in that buffer zone and felt what it means.
United by Pride is entirely self-funded and independent from corporate money and political parties. It belongs to the community that builds it. Every year.
The Principles of United by Pride
1. Intercommunal and united
UbP exists to bridge the division of Cyprus rather than to ignore it. Two marches from north and south converging at the buffer zone is the political statement itself, carried in the shape of the day. Peace, reunification, and queer liberation are inseparable.
2. Every queer person living on this island
Turkish speaking and Greek speaking, migrants and refugees, students and workers, people with papers and people still waiting on them. Intercommunal means across the division and across every other line drawn to keep us apart.
3. No corporate sponsors. No politicians.
UbP is funded by the community, for the community. No corporate branding, no corporate money, no politicians on our stage. Money that comes with strings attached is money that decides what we can say, and refusing it is what keeps this a political event rather than a programmed one.
4. Cypriot and island queer communities lead
UbP is organised by us and performed by us. The stage centres queer Cypriot artists here and in the diaspora, and everyone who has made a life on this island.
5. Intersectional
Queer liberation that leaves people behind is not liberation. UbP stands in solidarity with Palestine and all people facing occupation, displacement, and genocide. We march against racism, sexism, colonialism, militarism, and all forms of discrimination. None of us is free until all of us are free.
6. Trans rights are non-negotiable
Trans visibility and trans voices sit at the centre of our programme and our politics, and they stay there when it is inconvenient to keep them there.
7. Grassroots and open
No organisation owns United by Pride. It is built each year by the people who come to build it, and anyone who agrees to these principles can be one of them.
