• Purpose:
    • This policy outlines our commitment to ensuring all of our events and activities are accessible to everyone, regardless of their financial situation. We believe that true community is built on inclusivity, where no one is excluded due to financial hardship.
  • Scope:
    • This policy applies exclusively to events organized by Queer Collective. While we aim to make our own events accessible, we recognize that collaborations with other organizations may not always allow for the same flexibility with community tickets. We will clearly communicate any limitations in these cases.
  • Policy Details:
    • Access for All:
      • No one will be turned away from Queer Collective events due to an inability to pay.
      • If you are unemployed, underpaid, or facing financial challenges, you are welcome to reach out to us. We will work with you to ensure you have access to the event, whether through reduced or waived fees.
    • LGBTQIA African Association Members:
      • Members of the LGBTQIA African Association will be granted free entry to all events hosted by Queer Collective, in line with our commitment to solidarity and cross-community support.
    • How to Apply for Support:
      • Anyone who needs financial assistance for any Queer Collective event can contact us directly. We’ll keep it confidential and will work together to make sure you can attend.
      • Requests for support should be submitted via direct message or email, at least 48 hours before the event. We aim to respond promptly and do everything we can to make arrangements.
    • No Proof of Need Required:
      • We trust our community and do not require proof of financial hardship. Your word is enough.
      • Our commitment is rooted in solidarity, and we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to be part of our spaces, without having to justify their financial situation.
    • Event Organizers’ Responsibilities:
      • Event organizers will be responsible for ensuring this policy is upheld at every event.
      • Volunteers and event staff will be trained to handle requests for financial assistance with empathy, respect, and confidentiality.
      • We will keep an ongoing record of all financial assistance provided, to ensure fair and consistent practices across all events.
    • Sustaining the Policy:
      • This policy will be funded through our volunteer efforts and the collective contributions of those involved. As we grow, we will work towards sustainable models to ensure we can continue to make our events accessible, without compromising the quality or accessibility of our programming.
      • If you are in a position to contribute to the fund that supports this policy, we encourage donations. However, financial assistance will never be contingent on anyone’s ability to donate.
    • Feedback & Transparency:
      • We are committed to being transparent about how funds are allocated and how this policy is carried out. If you ever feel that this policy isn’t being followed, we encourage you to reach out to us — your feedback will help us improve.
      • This policy will be reviewed annually and adapted as needed, with input from our community.

At Queer Collective, we reject the idea that access should be a privilege. We’re here to build a community where everyone can show up, connect, and create. This policy is one of many ways we make that a reality — a commitment to solidarity, inclusivity, and care for one another.

As a grassroots organization committed to creating safe, inclusive, and accessible spaces for the LGBTQIA+ community, Queer Collective Cyprus maintains a clear policy on promoting events through our platforms. This policy ensures fairness, aligns with our values, and preserves the integrity of our work.

1. Criteria for Event Promotion

We will consider promoting events that meet the following criteria:

  • Free or Donation-Based: Events must be free to attend or operate on a donation-based model. This ensures accessibility for community members, particularly those who may face financial barriers.
  • Community-Oriented and Aligned with Our Values: Events should foster inclusivity, safety, and empowerment for LGBTQIA+ individuals.
  • Non-Commercial & Non-Profit Driven: Events should not be structured primarily for profit. We prioritize grassroots and community-led initiatives over commercial ventures.
  • Queer-Centered: While we may occasionally share broader social justice initiatives, our focus remains on LGBTQIA+ events and issues.
2. What We Do Not Promote

To maintain fairness and uphold our mission, we do not promote:

  • For-Profit Events: Any event that charges a set fee for entry and is primarily aimed at generating revenue.
  • Corporate or Sponsored Events: Events backed by corporations or businesses seeking promotion.
  • Events by Groups that Do Not Align with Our Values: We will not promote events organized by individuals, businesses, or organizations that contradict our principles of inclusivity, intersectionality, and community empowerment.
  • Political Party Events: As an independent organization, we do not promote events that serve the interests of any political party.
3. Our Role & Responsibilities
  • We Are Not Promoters or Endorsers: Our role is to support community-driven efforts, not to act as a promotional platform for private or commercial events.
  • Curating Safe & Inclusive Spaces: Events we promote should actively work towards creating safe and affirming environments for all attendees.
  • Maintaining Transparency & Fairness: We apply this policy consistently to avoid favoritism or perceived bias in event selection.
4. Alternative Ways to Share Events

While we do not formally promote for-profit events, we encourage organizers to:

  • Share their events within community networks and LGBTQIA+ social groups.
  • Connect with queer-friendly media platforms that focus on nightlife and cultural events.
  • Engage with queer community spaces that provide open listings for events.

This policy is in place to protect the integrity of Queer Collective Cyprus’ mission and ensure that our platforms remain dedicated to grassroots, accessible, and community-driven initiatives. We appreciate the understanding and cooperation of all event organizers in respecting these guidelines.
