This proposed law is not a technical update. It\u2019s a political move\u2014and a dangerous one.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It tries to redefine protest as a risk, rather than a right. As something to be contained, managed, and when inconvenient silenced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That should concern everyone. But especially those of us whose lives and rights have never been protected without protest. Queer people. Migrants. Workers. Survivors. Students. Stateless people. People without access to courts or headlines or institutions that listen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This isn\u2019t just about a future where protests are banned. It\u2019s about a present where a protest is stripped of its power turned into a performance with rules, routes, and conditions. Approved only when it\u2019s harmless. Punished when it\u2019s not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It goes beyond protest. It targets the foundations of collective resistance, freedom of expression, the right to assembly, the right to dissent. Rights that exist not because the state grants them but because people claimed them, fought for them, and continue to defend them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This law is not about keeping people safe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s about keeping power comfortable and unchecked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The message is clear: raise your voice, and you will be watched. Organise, and you will be made responsible. Refuse to be silent, and you will be punished.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We won\u2019t treat this as an administrative issue. It\u2019s a political red line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because a society where protest requires permission is not free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And a state that fears protest is a state that fears justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
