We are in the process of registering as a non-governmental organization (NGO).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This isn\u2019t a sudden shift or a move. It\u2019s a practical step forward\u2014one we\u2019ve been thinking about for a long time, and one that reflects where we are and where we want to go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We didn\u2019t start the Queer Collective to become an institution. We started it because we were tired of being disconnected, tired of waiting, tired of watching others speak for us without us. We built this collective to bring our communities together. We built it from scratch, without funding, without status, and without institutional backing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We\u2019ve made it this far on our own terms. And we\u2019re not changing those terms now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Registering as an NGO doesn\u2019t mean we\u2019re becoming a service provider or a lobbying body. It means we\u2019ll be in a better position to do what we\u2019re already doing: organize events, build infrastructure, support each other, and open doors for new projects and ideas from the ground up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s a step toward sustainability, not respectability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We\u2019re not here to compete for visibility, power, or institutional approval. We\u2019re here to build something that lasts. We want the Queer Collective to be a long-term springboard for our communities\u2014rooted in intersectional politics, grounded in action, and accountable to the people who shape it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This move doesn\u2019t change our politics or our priorities. It just gives us more tools to do the work. In fact we need our horizontal structures of participation putting in place processes to allow community members to take a lead in the decisions, direction and actions of the Queer Collective whether through ad hoc projects or events or via the decision making Committee. New Look, Same Collective<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n You may have already noticed\u2014things look a little different around here. We designed a compact and balanced logo using a strong typeface to reflect cohesion and unity. At its centre is the lightning bolt \u2014 a symbol of action and resistance \u2014 now placed between parentheses. These parentheses act as an intentional break in the dominant narrative: a queer voice interrupting, clarifying, and re-framing the story. They mark our perspective not as a footnote, but as the context that\u2019s been missing all along.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We\u2019re also working on something we\u2019ve wanted for a long time: our own website.
