It works by creating a protective barrier in the body that prevents HIV from establishing an infection.<\/p><p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\">Taken correctly, PrEP is up to 99% effective. It is prevention plain and simple.<\/p><p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\"><strong>Important to know:<\/strong><\/p><ul><li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words pl-2\">PrEP is for people who are HIV-negative<\/li><li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words pl-2\">PrEP does not interfere with hormone therapy<\/li><li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words pl-2\">Most people experience no side effects. The most reliable method, proven in large-scale studies. You reach 99% protection after 7 consecutive days.\u00a0<\/p><p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\"><strong>On-Demand PrEP (2-1-1)<\/strong> Taken around sex rather than every day. The schedule is: 2 pills taken 2\u201324 hours before sex, 1 pill 24 hours after the first dose, 1 pill 48 hours after the first dose.
