Queer Kafene is our new series of open coffee hangouts where we take up space.

No agenda. No schedule. No pressure. Just a café, a table (or several), and a space where LGBTQIA+ people across Cyprus can just exist.

The idea is simple. We meet at a café. You show up whenever you can. You grab a coffee, sit down, and do whatever you’d do at any kafeneio. Read a book. Catch up with someone. Scroll your phone. Play tavli. Or just be. The only difference is you’re surrounded by queer people and allies, and you don’t have to explain yourself.

Queer Kafene is a drop-in. No registration, no commitment, no obligation to be social. Come for twenty minutes or stay all afternoon. Come alone. Bring someone. It’s yours.

**Why are we doing this?**

Because there’s no casual, recurring queer gathering space in Cyprus. Queer Kafene is where that starts. A coffee, a conversation (or not), and a space where you can just be.

We’re also reclaiming something. The traditional Cypriot kafeneio has always been a space for gathering, for tavli, for sitting and talking for hours. It’s also always been a space that excluded us.

**What’s next**

Queer Kafene runs on a [bi-weekly / regular] basis. We rotate between cafés across Nicosia.
